There must be a hundred different ways that you can get links to your website but sadly most webmasters give up after a month because they don’t see immediate results for their efforts.
They jumped in without a plan and ended up with a half a dozen weak links from social sites and a few out of the way (off topic) forums. Let me tell you, getting links is much more than forums and bookmarking sites.
Links are not so much about quantity as quality these days but if your market is very competitive you will still be competing with the 900 lb Gorillas that have a lot of high quality targeted links pointing to them.
